With nearly two decades of experience in newsrooms along the East Coast, Sheena Jones is a global storyteller whose passion for narrative shines through in her work. Beginning her career at WBFF Fox 45 in Baltimore, Maryland, Sheena honed her skills as a production assistant, assignment editor, and associate producer, ultimately becoming a key figure in the production of the 5-hour morning show. During her nine-year tenure, she not only field produced for prestigious events like the annual Preakness races but also served as the head booker for the morning show, where she took it upon herself to mentor local business owners, guiding them on how to showcase their products on television and offering valuable tips for effective interviewing.
Sheena's career trajectory took her to CNN in Atlanta, Georgia, where she quickly made her mark in the tape feeds department. Her pivotal role in covering the Freddie Gray story, which garnered national attention and outrage, showcased her ability to capture impactful moments, such as the live disciplining of a protester by his mother. Her contributions to Anderson Cooper's show and various CNN broadcasts earned her accolades from senior management, leading to a rapid promotion. As part of the National Content Center Desk, Sheena worked on stories across America and the world, including the gas explosion in Paris in 2019. She coordinated global live shots for CNN’s domestic and international teams. Her journey with CNN continued in New York City, where she mentored news assistants and covered stories across New York and the East Coast.
After covering the Covid pandemic's impact on the United States, Sheena transitioned to Cheddar News in the Financial District, where she led the assignment desk and spearheaded coverage in the financial sector. As the Director of Newsgathering, she managed and recruited top talent while overseeing the newsroom's editorial.
Throughout her extensive career, Sheena's keen eye for storytelling and commitment to truth and accuracy have made her a respected leader in the newsroom.
